Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC)

The second edition of the Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) program from NAEMT provides training for EMS professionals and other prehospital responders on how to deliver medical care in civilian tactical settings.

This course covers the three main phases of tactical medical response, aligning them with standard EMS terminology:

  • Hot Zone / Direct Threat Care: Medical assistance provided while an active threat or dangerous situation is still present.

  • Warm Zone / Indirect Threat Care: Treatment given after the immediate threat has been reduced, though the environment remains potentially unsafe.

  • Cold Zone / Evacuation Care: Care administered during the removal or transport of patients away from the incident area to a secure location.
